#OSH11: Sales soar for Flight Design

By Janice Wood · August 1, 2011 ·

Flight Design USA logged more than $11 million in new orders at last week’s Oshkosh, including 30 orders for the new four-seat C4, plus another eight for the company’s Light-Sport Aircraft.

“This sales report shows that our distributor/dealer network has great confidence in Flight Design,” confirmed Tom Peghiny, President of Flight Design USA. “That we can reveal sales of this volume in the USA, adding to the significant orders taken in Europe at Aero 2011 during April, illustrates the market strength of our brand.”

C4 “These orders reported are real product requests with money changing hands,” noted John Gilmore, the company’s national sales manager. “Orders from the USA add to those collected earlier this season in Europe. We now count more than 70 orders for the new four seat C4 while maintaining our lead in the LSA sector through new orders.”

Flight Design USA is seeking new representatives in selected areas of the USA. While showing strength across the country, certain areas warrant additional dealerships to better serve pilots interesting in buying and operating Flight Design aircraft, officials said.

Flight Design USA is the U.S. importer of the Flight Design CT and MC series of Light-Sport Aircraft from Germany. Delivering more than 330 Special Light-Sport Aircraft to customers through its network of distributors and dealers Flight Design USA has led the field since the first LSA approval in 2005. The carbon fiber CT series of aircraft are the best-selling LSA in America. Globally, more than 1,700 Flight Design aircraft are in service.

It’s no wonder that Flight Design took 30 orders for the four-seater C4. Flight Design retained all the category-leading attributes of the CTLS (advanced avionics, comfortable cabin, BRS, etc.) and will add full IFR capability to this all-around cross-country performer. It seems to be the next logical step for the world’s leader in light sport aircraft. I’m sure it will be a very successful introduction. Congratulations to the entire Flight Design team!
