Laser-Gard Aviator Eyewear debuts

By Janice Wood · August 10, 2011 ·

As laser attacks on aircraft are doubling each year worldwide, with helicopter and civilian pilots at a higher risk, Elliot Scientific is introducing Sperian’s Laser-Gard aviator eyewear to offer more protection.

Although high-quality sunglasses provide UV and glare protection, Sperian has combined narrow band notch laser dyes to produce safety eyewear designed specifically for personnel who may be exposed to laser pointers.

Sperian Laser-Gard draws on 40 years experience of manufacturing laser visors for the US Air Force to significantly reduce the threat posed by today’s powerful green and red laser pointers, according to company officials.

Available in a choice of frame styles, featuring multiple adjustments for comfort, the patented lenses are available in two versions to ensure that pilots and law enforcement personnel are protected around the clock: Bronze colored sunglass tint for the day; salmon colored lens for night.
