A general aviation aircraft, Pipistrel‘s Taurus G4 — winner of the NASA Green Flight Challenge — has been chosen by the Design Museum in London as a nominee for the Designs of the Year 2012.
The general aviation aircraft joins a long list of nominees in categories ranging from fashion to furniture to transport. Other nominees in the transport category include Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner and the T27 Electric Car.
The Design Museum’s Design Awards are considered “the Oscars of the design world.” All of the nominations will be in the Designs of the Year exhibition at the Design Museum from Feb. 8 to July 15.
From the list of nominees, a jury will select the seven category winners and an overall winner for the Design of the Year 2012. Winners will be announced at an Awards Night held at the Design Museum on April 24.
