SEBRING, Fla. — The 9th annual U.S. Sport Aviation Expo will kick off on Jan. 17-20 at the Sebring Regional Airport with several changes, including twilight air shows by Team RV on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Other highlights for the 2013 event include a “Year of the Cub” salute on opening day to honor the 75th anniversary of the Piper J-3 Cub, and Bahamas Day on Sunday, when a group of LSA owners will again depart for the Bahamas amid the performance of a Junkanoo band. Also on Sunday the Model Airplane Contest returns, offering prizes to model aviation enthusiasts of all ages.
A new Expo layout and manufacturer showcases will give exhibitors more visibility and bring more activity to the Flightline area, according to organizers.
“During Expo 2012, we surveyed exhibitors and visitors about improving the event,” said Expo Director Jana Filip. “Their suggestions resulted in what we believe is a more organized event layout. We also know that exhibitors and visitors appreciate the opportunity for frequent demo flights, so we’re committed to maintaining that benefit while offering more experiences for visitors.”
A broad range of educational forums will offer information about learning to fly, flying over water, flying to foreign countries, insurance, and other safety issues.
Most of the 160 exhibit spaces are filled, but a limited number of exhibitor, premier partner, elite partner, sponsor and elite sponsor packages are still available, according to organizers.
“We want to make the Expo the place to be for LSA companies and enthusiasts as well as all aviation enthusiasts. January is a great time to visit Florida, and we’re working hard to make the Expo a fun and educational activity for anyone who loves aviation,” Filip said.
