Did you know there are aviation events going on in your area this weekend?
If not, you might want to check out SocialFlight. The newly released version 3.0 is available on the web, on your tablet or smartphone.
“We’ve signed up 15,000 users in just nine months,” said SocialFlight founder Jeff Simon on opening day of SUN ‘n FUN. “The database of events, which is growing at 10-15 events per day, has more than 2,000 events through the end of 2013.”
The SocialFlight event database includes activities important to pilots, such as fly-ins, airshows, pancake breakfasts, conventions, FAA Safety Seminars, and much more. SocialFlight users can search for events, add events, chat, upload photos, get email notifications, send event notices to their friends, and even add events automatically to their Google or Outlook calendar.
All the technology is well and good, but the end game is getting people off the couch and flying.
Simon reports receiving many emails that state, “I’m flying more, now that I have somewhere to go.” That’s the point, isn’t it?
The technology update is only part of the story. SocialFlight has also partnered with General Aviation News, which produces SUN ’n FUN Today, AVweb, and Kitplanes.
“At AVweb, we want to be on the cutting edge of social networking and providing value to our subscribers,” said Tom Bliss, publisher. “SocialFlight connects pilots to each other and to the aviation events around them better than any social media tool we’ve ever seen.”
“SocialFlight is a huge industry asset,” said Ben Sclair, publisher of General Aviation News. “I will be encouraging all my fellow print and online aviation publishers to partner with SocialFlight as well, so that we can all provide our readers with everything happening in aviation.”
SocialFlight is a free app available on the iTunes App Store for iPhone and iPad. It is also available on the Google Play Store for Android Phones and Tablets, as well as on the web at SocialFlight.com.
Hello Ben,
I am writing you in hopes to spread the word of an event happening May 3 & 4 at KOPF. Operation SAFEE Flight is a two-day STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) outreach program coordinated by the FAA, Miami-Dade Schools and local aviation businesses and organizations. The goal is to introduce as many kids, young adults, and members of our community to the huge impact that aviation has in its communities.
Friday hosts a Meet & Greet with the SE Regional FAA Director and an exciting GTM Supercar vs Lear 31 Race.
The GTM Supercar is special because it has been built by students of Experience Aviation, Barrington Irving’s Foundation.
Please feel free to contact me for more information. Otherwise, activity inquiries can be made to the Orion Jet Center at 305.455.2295.
Thank you for your consideration.
