New Nevada license plate helps fund rural airports

By General Aviation News Staff · September 24, 2013 ·

Proceeds from a new Nevada license plate will benefit 44 rural airports in the state. The Nevada Airports Association specialty plate includes a twin-engine plane in one corner, with the slogan “Sky is the limit.”

According to officials, revenues from the plate sales will go into the Nevada Aviation Trust Fund, which is used to provide a 5% local match for FAA airport improvement grants.

The specialty plates cost an initial $61 and $30 for renewals. Of that, the association will receive $25 from the initial issuance and $20 from each renewal.
