To help celebrate Jerrie Mock’s 50th anniversary as the first woman to fly solo around the world, you can follow her “progress” on Twitter and Facebook. From March 19 to April 17, the folks behind Fly 38Charlie, a book about Mock’s adventures, will post updates of where Jerrie was, 50 years ago, on her record setting flight around the world. The celebrations conclude the morning of April 17 with the unveiling of a statue of Mock at the Port Columbus Airport in Ohio.

JERRIE SUCCEEDED WHERE AMELIA FAILED.
Thanks so much for sharing this – we want the entire world to know about our hero – Jerrie Mock! There will be one more special event after the sculpture unveiling the morning of April 17 ….. at 9:36 pm, the time that Jerrie returned in 1964, Martha Lunken will fly a Cessna 180 in to Port Columbus Airport, to honor the completion of Jerrie’s flight. Martha is a pilot extraordinaire herself with numerous ratings, is an FAA examiner, and a contributor to Flying magazine. A reception will be held at Landmark Aviation.
