Calling all innovators!

By General Aviation News Staff · September 1, 2014 ·

The September issues of General Aviation News will spotlight innovators. You know an innovation when you see one. The kind of product or service that makes you think, “Why didn’t I think of that?”

Do you know of a product or service that has made a difference in your flying or learning or owning or… you get the idea. Tell us so we can share it with your fellow aviators.

Send your comments and photos to General Aviation News Editor Janice Wood. You can also add your comments below. Thanks!

You should look at the P-mags by http://www.emagair.com. Couple that with our EICommander (www.eicommander.com) which is like a full engine monitor for the P-mag ignitions. It is able to continually monitor the P-mags and notify the pilot if one of them fails, loses its timing, has a fouled plug or broken plug or broken wire, and more.

After the FAA created the HEMS A021 pre-flight requirement, the FAA obstacle data baes was updated every 2 months yet there were and are tens to hundreds of new or modified obstacles every day. It took the FAA about 5 years to come up with a daily database thanks to my prodding. So now it is possible for my HEMS service to provide helicopter pilots (police, news, crop dusters, photomissions, air medical) with obstacle avoidence data every day to comply iwth A021.

Plenty of innovation already – kindly read Mike Dempsey’s article/blog of September 1 at get-aviation.com; and THATS what’s needed!
