723 Whiskey Bravo celebrates Be an Angel day

By General Aviation News Staff · September 3, 2014 ·

ATLANTA — 723 Whiskey Bravo Bistro & Bar celebrated national “Be an Angel” Day Aug. 22 by presenting Angel Flight Soars with a check for $100,000.

Owners Skip and Victoria Moore were on hand to award the check to Executive Director Jeanine Chambers.

The Moores are actively involved in the non-profit Angel Flight Soars, whose mission is to arrange free air transportation for people who need to travel to receive lifesaving medical treatment, but lack the means.

“On this day last year, we kicked off our Bravo the Bear campaign at 723 Whiskey Bravo, allowing people to add to their checks for Angel Flight. What we anticipated to be a small, but meaningful way to give has turned into so much more,” said Skip.

723WB-Presents-100K-Check-to-Angel-Flight-Soars-1024x693723 Whiskey Bravo, appropriately named after the Moore’s Cirrus SR 22 airplane tail number, offered guests the opportunity to donate by adding to their dining checks for Angel Flight. With a $20 donation, donors at the restaurant received one of the Angel Flight mascots, an aviator teddy bear, as a thank you and reminder to “Be an Angel.”

“We raised nearly $15,000 from that campaign alone in one year and were inspired to host our Party with a Purpose fundraiser in February.”

The Party with a Purpose event brought together local members of the community Feb. 8 at 723 Whiskey Bravo to celebrate Victoria as the 2013 HALO Award Recipient and raised over $85,000 for the organization.

“The entire community on 30A has come together to make such a wonderful difference for the patients and families we serve,” stated Chambers. “Angel Flight is incredibly blessed to have such kind-hearted volunteers and supporters the Moores and the team at 723 Whiskey Bravo.”

“This is a cause that touches our hearts and one that continues to make a direct impact in the lives of people who really need it, even in this area. People don’t often realize how crucial it is for patients to get to a treatment or a surgery until they’re too far away,” says Victoria. “This is just one small way we can turn our love of flying into something meaningful for others – flying with a purpose.”

“The group of people we work with at Angel Flight is top-notch,” says Skip. “We’ve had people visit the restaurant who have used Angel Flight, are so happy and share their appreciation for such a great organization.”

The national “Be an Angel” day was established by Jayne Howard Feldman in 1993 as reminder to encourage people to perform random acts of kindness and to help those in need. Along with another Party with a Purpose event in 2015, the Moores and the team at 723 Whiskey Bravo plan to continue the Bravo the Bear campaign and encourage others to “Be an Angel” by performing one small act of kindness today.

Angel Flight, located at Dekalb Peachtree Airport, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer pilot organization that provides free air transportation for medical treatments not available locally and for other compassionate purposes for the benefit of the community. This service is available for any medically stable and ambulatory patient demonstrating a financial need and/or anyone who cannot utilize or access commercial transportation. Angel Flight Soars is funded entirely by corporate and private donations.
