SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Mainly Mozart, a classical music organization, is joining forces with the Allen Airways Flying Museum at Gillespie Field (KSEE) in El Cajon, Calif., to present a concert of classical chamber music amidst one of the finest collections of historic aviation memorabilia in Southern California.
The event will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, with the concert beginning at 3:30 p.m.
A special invitation is being extended to pilots around the nation to participate in what is being billed as a first-of-its-kind chamber music concert and fly-in.
The concert, billed as Fly Air Amadeus, will feature PROJECT Trio, which combines classical, jazz and other genres.
“We are very excited about this wonderful venue and this exceptional event,” said Nancy Laturno Bojanic, Executive Director of Mainly Mozart. “We are extending an invitation to the entire aviation community to enjoy this great union of classical music and aviation. We have never done anything quite like this before and we’re eager to move forward with this exciting event. We know this is a fantastic destination and wonderful event for a fly-in. We are confident everyone who attends will agree.”
Tickets for the event are available for $250 per person. Hors d’oeuvres, champagne, and desserts will accompany the evening.
Great idea – wrong sound! I think a Big Band (swing/jazz) venue would draw a larger audience as well as relating to aviation/WW II period?
Thanks much for this. Looking at flying in for this one. Could really be cool! They should have more of these neat cultural events for fly-ins. Make as nice combination. Plus, it’s Gillespie. SD weather. Etc.
