Pictures of the day: Camping in the mud at SUN ‘n FUN

By General Aviation News Staff · April 12, 2016 ·

Richard Rain sent in these photos, explaining: “Had a great time at SUN ‘n FUN, we were all the way at the end of aircraft camping. We went as a flight of three from Maryland — a Husky, Super decathlon and a Cherokee 140. As you can see, these pictures were taken after the overnight rain and it was messy getting around.Richard Rain 1 Richard Rain 2

We had an air show up here and it rained pretty good. We set out – set down some wooden pallets to set table legs and ice boxes and other gear on. This kept the gear up and out of the water and mud. Not on the cover of ‘Camping’, but it worked. Possibly you could set out some pallets and put some pieces of plywood on top of the pallets. Then pitch – place the tent on top of the plywood-pallets base. This will keep the tent up out of the mud and water. Keep some used pallets from year to year. But a possible fire hazard.
