Sporty’s converts vintage catalog covers to T-shirts

By General Aviation News Staff · April 26, 2016 ·

Sporty’s has created T-shirts inspired by three of its most popular catalog covers from the 1970s and 1980s.

These vintage t-shirts are modeled after classic catalog covers and offer a glimpse into the airplanes that remain as popular today as they were when they were first manufactured. Each catalog cover was originally hand-drawn by a Sporty’s artist.

Three styles are available:

  1. Sporty’s 1972 Vintage T-Shirt: This t-shirt features a classic taildragger with a sunburst background. This was the Sporty’s cover for the summer edition of 1972.
  2. Sporty’s 1977 Vintage T-Shirt: Taildraggers were really popular in 1977. This retro green and white design was the cover for the July 1977 catalog.
  3. Sporty’s 1980 Vintage T-Shirt: The 80s brought big hair to the masses and a Bellanca to the cover of Sporty’s November edition.

Sporty’s 1972 T-shirt, Sporty’s 1977 T-shirt. and Sporty’s 1980 T-shirt are each available for $24.95.
