VANCOUVER — Coulson Flying Tankers, owners of the largest flying water bombers in the world, the Martin Mars, have launched the Ultimate Aviation Experience: A chance to fly the Martin Mars aircraft.
“The Martin Mars aircraft, holders of numerous world records, are truly amazing pieces of World War II history, as they are the largest aircraft ever built. Before the fleet is retired, Coulson Aviation is offering aviation enthusiasts a chance to fly one of these incredible pieces of aviation history,” said Wayne Coulson, CEO and President of Coulson Flying Tankers.
Coulson purchased the Martin Mars water bombers in 2007 with the notion to modernize the aircraft and continue to use them for aerial fire suppression through-out North America.
“There will never be an aircraft built that will have flown and dropped more water on wildfires over their five decade history. They were the anchor of the BC government firefighting program until released from service in 2015. We have been honored to be part of their wonderful history and are excited to be bringing one of the Martin Mars to the Oshkosh airshow this year,” Coulson said.
Cost for the two-day experience is $25,000 per pilot.
Sign me up.
$25,000 seems reasonable for the size of the aircraft and the maintenance needed to keep it flying. Wish I had the money to try it out.
Second Mortgage, kid’s college fund, wife’s Cadillac.
If you want it badly enough, you can find a way.
Son, have you considered the Military for college?
Honey, I know your car if 15 years old, but the bright side is, it’s paid for.
Now, understand that I do not have any kids, and my wife loves her 2003
Chevy Cavalier, but I’m still not buying into the Mars, though I would love to,
and I do have a multi-engine rating.
To bad it’s so expensive, believe more would try
Usurious. $2,500 maybe I’d go.
