Picture of the Day: From fixed-wing to rotor

Robert Hirschfield submitted the following photo and note: “With more than 3,000 fixed wing hours, I spent many months getting my helicopter rating. This is my first flight as a private pilot helicopter in a Robinson R-44. Photo is by my partner Christina Alexa.”

    Laudable effort but helicopters are too dangerous already compared to electric vehicles to come like quadcopters carrying people and payload.
    A vicious cycle… there will be less and less helicopters, they will cost more and more and have less qualified pilots.
    Already a heli costs 10 times as much as a fixed wing for the same performance…. and is restricted to the same airports thanks to countless ordinances banning them from pretty much everywhere but airports, with stiff penalties if violated (because heli pilots are rich and can be sued/will pay).
