more thoughts on this;
Every pilot should practice power-off 180s in the pattern until they are able to land on, or just past the spot chosen .
And the pattern should be flown close enough to the runway to be able to land on it from any point after the crosswind turn, if the engine should fail,..’.the power-off 180 ‘.
This is the safe practice of a power off [ engine fail], landing off airport, from the last 1,000 ft of altitude.
This takes practice to get it right…’ try it, you’ll like it.!’
Yup, you do look to be high on short final.! . But M54 is at 590 ft. elevation, and 100 ft wide.
So you’re 410 ft agl and descending at 1,200 fpm….so you’re less than 30 seconds from touchdown….ok fine.!
BTW, a very nice photo. thanks !

You’re in a Piper Arrow… I believe you just barely made it.
