Video: In the cockpit with the Thunderbirds

By General Aviation News Staff · April 27, 2020 ·

Frederick A. Johnsen, who pens our Of Wings & Things column, is also the force behind the Airrailimages YouTube channel. He just posted a new video, Thunderbirds “America Strong” Flyovers, which includes “excellent 360° camera cockpit footage from the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.”

“A bit of it has been seen earlier this month, but most is new and all is awesome,” Fred reports. “In April 2020, the Thunderbirds have been keeping public appearances by making special flyover salutes during the COVID-19 isolation period.”

Why are some scenes sped up? There is no need for that – it spoils the video.

Thank you for honoring our first responders and frontline medical staffs during this pandemic.

I was fortunate to see the thunderbirds practicing when visiting San Francisco. I had the most patriotic feeling I had never quite felt before.
