Frederick A. Johnsen, who pens our Of Wings & Things column, is also the force behind the Airailimages Channel on YouTube, which just posted a video shot April 28, 2020, of the USAF Thunderbirds and U.S. Navy Blue Angels flying together over New York, Philadelphia, and parts of New Jersey.
The joint effort was a flyover salute to COVID-19 healthcare workers.
“The jet teams fly regularly to maintain the razor-sharp skills they need,” Fred noted. “What better way to use their flying time than by bringing a bit of their stylish art to the public at a time when the public can’t go to an air show?”
The almost 16-minute video includes shots from the cockpit, shots from the ground of the teams flying over the iconic American cities, as well as the reactions of healthcare workers.
Wonderful video.
