While walking by the ramp in front of the Leesburg International Airport (KLEE) in Florida one January day, I spotted a gaggle of Albatros L-39s.
This is a Czech/Russian fighter trainer that was used during the cold war to train Soviet block fighter pilots.
Why were so many gathered on this day here in Florida?

Being a curious person, I tried doing a little investigation and found a bunch of jet pilots gathered at the FBO.

When I asked “what’s going on with these L-39’s?” the reply was, “we are here for Orestes Lorenzo’s fly-in.”

Their activity for the day was to practice formation flying.

Now if you do not know who Orestes Lorenzo is, do yourself a favor and check out our story from 2015 on the famous flyer.
