Kelly Aero now produces all new FAA/PMA direct replacement four- and six-cylinder magnetos. The new line of mags will serve as a drop-in replacement for Champion and Slick magnetos.
“We have manufactured millions of magneto parts and we have overhauled well over 100,000 magnetos over our history,” stated Kelly Aero President and CEO Jeffrey Kelly. “Introducing a new direct replacement Kelly Magneto further cements our commitment to piston engines in general aviation. It has been 30 years since a new direct replacement magneto line this robust has hit the market, so it is quite an accomplishment by our team.”
The mags are manufactured at Kelly’s Montgomery, Alabama, facility and will begin shipping to in September 2021.
I already sent a request to their sales manager for further details:
a) is this a new line or have they acquired Slick or Hartzell’s magneto line? If new, what is different?
b) what engines are on their STC list so we know what to apply them to?
So far, the crockets are chirping!
I believe that the answers to your questions are in the article. It is a new line, drop in replacement for Champion and Slick. It doesn’t say anything about STC’s, they are PMA’d direct replacements.
Not sure what crockets are either or why they would be chirping.
Good Work Guys, Very interesting. Let me know when they go to market and the price, Thank You
