Just introduced is Cockpit Capsule, which autonomously tracks your aircraft’s maintenance.
New from Windmill Aviation Technology, the Cockpit Capsule can be set to track regular events, such as annual inspections, oil changes, and AD notes. It also can track whatever custom interval events an aircraft owner desires, according to company officials.
Units are pre-loaded with AD notes and specific schedules based on engine, propeller, and airframe serial numbers.
A data logger is mounted in the cockpit, powered by USB and connected to a GPS antenna. The system tracks flight details and transfers the data to a cloud-based server using bluetooth. The server is accessible via an online portal or iOS app, company officials explain.
As a maintenance milestone nears Cockpit Capsule will alert the aircraft owner, officials add.
The iOS app includes a feature to allow for squawks to be noted, saved, and automatically sent to the noted maintenance facility.
The Cockpit Capsule is NORSEE (Non Required Safety Enhancing Equipment) approved, officials add.
The Cockpit Capsule data logger costs $500. The iOS application is available for $400 a year.

Hmmmmmm. It does all these wonderful maintenance things, but keeps track of you flight, on a cloud server. (The system tracks flight details and transfers the data to a cloud-based server using bluetooth. The server is accessible via an online portal or iOS app, company officials explain.) Sounds like an attempt at more tracking of what we do and where we go. I know ADS-B has some of that capability as well, but at least you can retain some autonomy. Can you shut that off on this device? Something to think about
