A bill before the Florida state legislature would repeal the state’s aircraft sales and lease taxes.
Senate Bill 786, introduced by Senator Travis Hutson, would eliminate the state’s 6% tax on the sale of airplanes.
Advocates say getting rid of the tax will help the state stay competitive, as several other states have eliminated such taxes.
“Quite a few states now have either no aircraft sales tax or minimal aircraft sales tax,” officials with the Florida Aviation Business Association said.
If signed into law, the proposal would take effect July 1, 2022.
The bill has already passed in the Senate Commerce Committee. It will be taken up during the 2022 legislative session, which begins Jan. 11, 2022.
I see no good reason to eliminate this tax ;other states are doing it does not provide an intelligent reason !!! Tell us how much the state loses by taking away this tax and where it will make up the loss.
It’s a very good idea and would most certainly increase aircraft sales in the state of Florida! They should also drop or at least reduce the sales taxes on boats for the same reason.
Let’s include the sales of new $90,000+ Corvettes too for the sales tax exemption.
Wealthy people who purchase Jets can afford the tax. No one else has the ability to defray a tax on their purchase. Remember, corporations are people and people don’t get this break-Sorry
These non Democrat states are getting better and better.
