It looks to be a Cardinal…no struts.!
But, someone forgot the ladder to check the fuel…3-4 steps works to be able to reach the fuel caps and look inside.
It’s a good thing that there was 3 of them.!
During the air race it is important to be as light as possible. They purposefully did not have a ladder.
Wonder what the steps on the struct are for? 🤔
There are no struts on this airplane. The step you see is on the retractable landing gear.
