Patrick Piper is a 77-year-old retired aircraft mechanic and private pilot with over 45 years of flying experience. In Just Fly the Airplane, Piper shares real-life experiences that will engage anyone with even a passing interest in aviation.
This book is not only about adventure, it’s also about faith, according to Piper.
“Had God not intervened, I would not be here today,” he says. “God has a plan for everyone’s life; even if we do not understand the trauma and pain we endure, God’s infinite wisdom always prevails.”
Through his personal trials and triumphs, Piper realizes that no matter what life throws our way, we must have faith that things will work out.
Just Fly The Airplane is 268 pages, includes a few dozen photos, and is available from Amazon for $21.

I am not a pilot, but I had the chance to work with Patrick Piper on his book. I have learned more about flying than I ever wanted to know. It’s not just “fill-er up” and take off to the next destination. Piper’s book put me in the pilot’s seat or maybe the co-pilot’s seat and gave me a bird’s-eye view of what it must be like flying through the skies. I learned that what I thought was simple, was way more complex. I have gained a newfound respect for men and women who are blessed with the fortitude to pilot a plane. Every time I get on a plane, I can’t help but say the words, “Just fly the airplane.”
Pat and his stories are real. He takes you with him in the plane. He tells the lessons he learned flying, both good and bad. Great book for pilots and non-pilots alike.
