Aircraft Spruce & Specialty Co. has opened a 35,000-square-foot distribution center in Middletown, Pennsylvania.
The new facility replaces one in Harrisburg that Aircraft Spruce and Aero Performance have operated since 2014.
“The additional space this new distribution center provides will enable us to continue to increase our inventory to provide optimum service to our customers throughout the Northeast states. Our team in Harrisburg is excited about the move to the state-of-the-art facility in Middletown, which will facilitate efficient processing of hundreds of orders each day for same day shipment. The store is also available for order pickup by local customers,” said Jim Irwin, president.

This is good news. I thought there was only ACS east near Atlanta, which is still closest to me. Shipping costs, especially for long objects, has skyrocketed in the past few years. Having centers closer to us should reduce shipping costs. Sometimes it has been cheapest for me to drive to ACS in Peachtree, five hours each way. I am wondering also why ACS has not changed its name. They really do not sell that much spruce compared to everything else they supply.
