ASA updates Lesson Plans to Train Like You Fly

By General Aviation News Staff · June 6, 2023 ·

Aviation Supplies & Academics (ASA) has released the fourth edition of “Lesson Plans to Train Like You Fly.”

Written by Arlynn McMahon, the guide for flight instructors presents lesson plans in the form of scenario-based maneuver briefings, according to ASA officials.

The fourth edition incorporates “critical information previously published in ‘Train Like You Fly: A Flight Instructor’s Guide to Scenario-Based Training,’ current best practices, and tried and true advice for teaching both visual and instrument flight, company officials add.

The book, designed to work with any syllabus and the FAA test standards, explains how to teach each maneuver. It also includes a series of drawings of each maneuver that instructors can discuss with their students or replicate in the classroom, as well as an accompanying script to teach from, which includes a story or motivation on why and how the maneuver is applied in actual flight, ASA officials said.

The book, which begins shipping in late June 2023, is available in softcover for $29.95 and as an ebook for $24.95.
