AURA AERO, a French designer and manufacturer of electric aircraft, will build a 500,000-square-foot manufacturing and assembly plant in Volusia County at Daytona Beach International Airport (KDAB) in Florida.
The facility will manufacture and assemble hybrid-electric regional aircraft with the goal of producing 100 a year.
Construction is expected to begin in 2026, and the plant is estimated to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2028.

Back in 1975, I wanted to build an electric RC plane. I needed 4 propellers. The owner of the hobby store in Scranton pa, laughed at me, and said it was impossible. I wonder what that guy thinks these days.
Good to see new aviation potential being realized.
I hope they are elevating/reinforcing the facility/buildings for Cat5 hurricane winds and low-lying coastal flooding. Just say’n. ‘Physical assurance’ is better than ‘monetary insurance’.
Homestead AFB took a brutal beating due to under-strength buildings a few years ago.
I assume that the Piper manufacturing facilities at Vero Beach muni… down the coast ~70-mi are highly reinforced and elevated.
