RADIANT Technology has developed a new Taxi Camera for experimental taildragger aircraft.
The camera “provides excellent vision of what the pilot often can’t see: What’s straight in front,” according to company officials.
It includes a daylight high-resolution 7-inch LCD display that folds into a case and a flush mount camera.
“When in the air, bonus features appear,” company officials continued. “It provides a visual horizon and red crosshairs that help point directly to an intended touch-down spot.”
“The Taxi Camera is a game-changer, providing improved visibility of what is ahead in the pilot’s blind spot,” noted James Wiebe, president and CEO of RADIANT Technology. “The additional capability the display provides while in flight helps improve awareness of whether the aircraft is level. Finally, the red crosshairs are a game-changer for lining up a touchdown spot.”
The included camera may be adjusted to any mounting position using a set-screw. It requires a ½-inch hole, along with connection to the aircraft’s power. The output of the camera connects to the system’s LCD display via a single cable. The display is designed to mount on the flat top of an aircraft control panel.

I have been using the time honored method of “S” turns while taxiing (slowly) for 55 years, and it has worked out well so far.
Also “S” turns while climbing or descending does wonders for traffic scan, as well as making your flying machine more visible.
Looking outside is a requirement in both cases…

Windows are somewhat useless in “Blind spot” and if this camera helps see these “Blind Spots” then I consider that a good thing …of course as you said E.T. must be looking out the window MOST of the time !
