Picture of the Day: Airport tug

By General Aviation News Staff · January 13, 2025 · 2 Comments

Lawrence Necheles submitted this photo and note: “The Falcon pictured landed with mechanical failure at Pontiac Municipal Airport (KPNT) in Illinois. The Falcon tri-jet sat on our ramp for a few weeks until someone retrieved it. We speculated and guessed when someone was going to get it. There was talk of a betting pool. As the lone weekend fuel service attendant, I brought my dog, Judy, to the airport and tied her up to take a funny picture.”

Cute picture, Lawrence! It looks like a promo for The Call of the Wild II, but Judy doubtless has a much better life than Buck, the canine hero of the Jack London novel.

Seriously: does KPNT have no airport rules and regulations on how long a disabled aircraft may remain, especially on a ramp or other aviation/airfield area, without being repaired or removed? Tracking the owner and requiring repair or removal? Clearly not your responsibility; just asking.

(When I was with the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority, largely handling Reno-Stead matters, we were rather dog-friendly, within reason and subject to keeping them under control.)

If I were the airport manager, you would be fired for attaching anything to that airplane. If I were the aircraft’s pilot, I would be looking to get you fired. You have a total disregard for other’s property.
