HKS Co., manufacturer of the HKS 700E light sport engine, has inked a deal with its worldwide aviation engine distributor, Quicksilver Aircraft Northeast, to relocate the company’s parts supply and distribution to the United States from Japan.
Based at Harris Airport (83K) in Fort Ann, New York, Quicksilver Aircraft Northeast has been a dealer for HKS engines since 2001, and the HKS 700E distributor and authorized service center since 2014.
“We have negotiated with HKS to purchase the remaining inventories of spare parts and engines, and move them to New York to avoid delays in parts shipping and service of the HKS 700E engines in the field,” said Chris Hatin, owner of Quicksilver Aircraft Northeast.
He goes on to say the available inventory is “enough to service these engines for decades to come.”
He added that because his company is managing all of the inventory, he anticipates prices will go down on many of the more expensive parts, while overhaul costs and turnaround times will be reduced.
The HKS 700E is an ASTM compliant 60-hp four-stroke, opposed twin cylinder engine specifically designed for aviation use with a 1,000 hour TBO. Since its release in 1998, nearly 1,500 engines have been sold worldwide.
HKS was founded by motorsports legend Hiroyuki Hasegawa, in 1973, and was the force behind the development of the HKS 700E engine, according to company officials.
