The gift of bling

Karyn King, founder of Sky Queen Jewelry, has transferred her company to the non-profit Habitat for Aviation to use for fundraising.

Known as an entrepreneur, author, photographer, and philanthropist with more than 20 years in aviation, King started her company after noticing a lack of offerings tailored to women.

“I combined my love for jewelry with my aviation passion and crafted simple earrings for myself,” she recalled. “When I wore them at events, I received many compliments and often gifted earrings to people I met.”

At one event she brought a dozen pairs and they sold out immediately.

“That’s when I decided to create SkyQueenJewelry.com and donate all the proceeds to scholarships,” she said.

In late 2024 she became involved with Habitat for Aviation, which helps girls learn to fly and fix airplanes. That’s when she decided to pitch in to help the organization.

Sales of the aviation-themed jewelry, including earrings, zipper pulls, necklaces, and her signature bling bling keychains, will be used to fund the efforts of the non-profit organization.

In addition to jewelry Karyn also is providing two $3,000 scholarships for girls and women involved in Habitat for Aviation.

“This support has been instrumental in furthering the education and dreams of these young women, allowing them to take significant steps toward their aviation careers,” said Beth White, founder of the organization.

“It makes my heart sing to pass this along to such a worthy organization and continue to make my contribution to girls in aviation,” added King.
