Fun in the sun at KEIK

By Geremy Kornreich · October 13, 2025 · Leave a Comment

A Stearman comes in to land after some fly-bys.

About 4,000 people enjoyed the 2025 Erie Air Fair at Erie Municipal Airport (KEIK) in Colorado.

Community members of all ages — including a lot of kids — came out Sept. 9 to see the airplanes, visit the vendors, and enjoy a beautiful sunny day with lots of airplane noises.

Hosted by the Erie Airport Economic Development Advisory Board, Mayor Andrew Moore opened the show with skydivers and the National Anthem.

The event continues to grow, this year featuring 13 food trucks, 24 vendors, and 15 static display aircraft.

Displays included two Gamebird GB-1 aerobatic aircraft. Next to them was a Harmon Rocket F1. Other display aircraft included a Pilatus PC-12, Kitfox, Stearman, JMB Sprint Odyssey, Decathlon, VariEze, Citabria, T-6 Texan II, lots of Cessnas, and more.

The biggest static display was the Pilatus PC-12.

KEIK’s own Space Shuttle made an appearance at the event.

Rides were available in a Robinson R44 helicopter and the SNB-5 “Sonoran Beauty” operated by the local wing of the Commemorative Air Force.

Stationary rides were offered by the Aims College flight simulator experience.

Non-aviation entertainment included the always popular firetruck and some construction equipment, with hats and safety information given out by Mountain View Fire Rescue.

“This event keeps getting better,” said Hetty Carlson, Aviation Education and Outreach Specialist for the Colorado Department of Transportation. “I love coming here, talking with people, and sharing aviation.”

She handed out sectional maps, airport guides, and other promotional materials.

Musical entertainment came from Bianca and the Flyboys.

The day included a drone air show from the St. Vrain Valley Schools, one of few high school drone programs in the area.

“We’re thrilled to be here, but the show is a lot better at nighttime,” explained a teacher.

Admission and parking were free, adding to the community feel.

Event Co-Chair Angela Tarry, a United Air Lines pilot and former member of the advisory board, said the event was successful due to the efforts of dozens of volunteers and cooperation from the town.
