Latest edition of Dictionary of Aeronautical Terms released

By General Aviation News Staff · October 28, 2025 · Leave a Comment

Officials with Aviation Supplies & Academics (ASA) report that the latest edition of the Dictionary of Aeronautical Terms will begin shipping in November 2025.

The new eighth edition, which contains more than 13,000 aviation-specific definitions and acronyms, collects all of the terms in the Federal Aviation Regulations (Title 14 CFR), glossaries from FAA handbooks, advisory circulars, the Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), and Pilot/Controller Glossary, as well as definitions not found in government publications, according to ASA officials.

Nearly 500 illustrations further define and aid visual recognition of the terms, officials said, adding the appendices include a list of 2,500 aviation acronyms and abbreviations, the phonetic alphabet, and other resources.

Available as a softcover book and an eBook, the dictionary is priced at $36.95.
