PK Floats introduces amphibious float for CubCrafters NX Cub

By General Aviation News Staff · December 30, 2025 · Leave a Comment

LINCOLN, Maine — PK Floats has introduced the PK 2250A Amphibious Float, an experimental float designed specifically for the CubCrafters NX Cub.

Engineered to complement the NX Cub’s lightweight, rugged airframe and exceptional Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) capabilities, the PK 2250A offers seamless transitions between land and water operations without compromising performance, according to company officials.

“The floats incorporate robust hydraulics, corrosion-resistant materials, and a reinforced structure — ensuring dependable operation in the demanding conditions NX Cub pilots often face,” company officials added.

“We designed the 2250A with the backcountry pilot in mind,” said Patrick McGowan, president of PK Floats. “The NX Cub is an incredibly capable aircraft, and we wanted to build a float that matched its spirit of freedom and adventure — something strong, light, and amphibious to give pilots the ultimate adventure, on the water or the runway.”

The PK 2250A features a redesigned hull for enhanced water handling and easier beaching, as well as optimized amphibious gear that reduces weight while maintaining strength, company officials explained.

“The result is improved performance on both land and water, greater payload flexibility, and the ability for pilots to fly farther and reach more remote destinations,” they added.

Based in Lincoln, Maine, PK Floats has been producing aircraft floats since 1954.
