FAA Invites Pilots to Share Their Stories

By General Aviation News Staff · January 27, 2026 · Leave a Comment

The FAA has launched a new initiative, Flight Path to America’s 250th, that includes a series of videos on the history of aviation in the U.S.

The latest video features the Wright brothers’ Dec. 17, 1903, flight at Kitty Hawk.

But the FAA notes that the story of aviation in America began in 1793 with a balloon flight by Jean-Pierre Blanchard.

“In the late 19th century, bold experimentation by pioneers like Samuel Pierpoint Langley, John Joseph Montgomery, Octave Chanute, and Augustus Moore Herring advanced the goal of powered flight, which was first achieved by the Wright brothers in 1903 at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. This groundbreaking moment set the stage for the rapid development of aviation technology and the development of civil air travel,” agency officials noted.

Share Your Aviation Memories

The agency is also asking pilots and aviation enthusiasts to share their personal stories and memories.

“How has aviation touched your life or the lives of those around you? Whether it’s a memorable flight, a career in the skies, or a dream of exploration, we want to hear your experiences,” FAA officials said.

Some things you can share:

  • Your aviation hero
  • Your most memorable flight experience
  • How aviation has influenced your career or personal life
  • A story of inspiration or adventure related to aviation

“Your stories will help us capture the diverse and meaningful ways aviation has shaped our lives and communities,” officials concluded.
