A partnership among Vincennes University, the Prosser Career Education Center, and Clark County Regional Airport (KJVY) in Sellersburg, Indiana, is developing the Southern Indiana Aviation Technology Center, which will be dedicated to flight training and aviation maintenance training.

The center “will provide accessible, high-quality training starting in high school, significantly reducing financial barriers for students while fast-tracking them into high-demand aviation careers,” university officials said.

Students from the Prosser Career Education Center — a career and technical education (CTE) institution that serves 23 high schools and more than 1,400 students — will be able to choose from two specialized pathways: Aviation Flight or Aviation Maintenance.

Students enrolled in either of the programs will have the opportunity to earn up to 16 credit hours each year from Vincennes University while attending Prosser. These credits will transfer directly toward a VU Certificate of Graduation or Associate Degree, giving students the potential to complete the equivalent of a semester of college-level coursework while still in high school, university officials said.

The aviation technology center also plans to offer both programs to adults, enabling them to complete their degree in as little as 24 months, officials added.

Funding for the 54,000-square-foot center at KJVY includes $500,000 from the Caesars Foundation and $100,000 from the CenterPoint Energy Foundation, as well as $6.5 million from the state of Indiana.

The center is expected to open during the 2027-28 academic year.
