RampReady Debuts

By General Aviation News Staff · January 27, 2026 · 4 Comments

Radiant Technology has introduced Radiant RampReady, a pocket breath-alcohol checker built specifically for pilots.

RampReady pairs a pilot-mode indicator with a numeric percentage of blood alcohol content (BAC) readout and an estimated time to 0% BAC, giving pilots fast answers during preflight and ramp checks, according to company officials.

“Pilots want simple, unambiguous feedback for breath alcohol content,” said James Wiebe, President and CEO of Radiant. “RampReady’s Green/Yellow/Red pilot-mode thresholds deliver exactly that — clear guidance when it matters, in a very small device.”

At A Glance

  • Green: < 0.020 % BAC (fly or caution, per regs)
  • Yellow: 0.020–0.039 % BAC (wait)
  • Red: ≥ 0.040 % BAC (wait longer)

The device is USB-C rechargeable and comes with five mouthpieces.

“Ramp checks happen. Pilots asked for something purpose-built that respects aviation norms and is dead simple under pressure,” added Wiebe. “RampReady keeps the focus on safety and good judgment.”

Price: $119.95.

If there is any question, they shouldn’t be near an airport…

If this detected diseases before MDs could, it would be worth the expense. To detect BAC? You have no business in the cockpit. Take up Monster Truck jumping with a manual bicycle instead or jumping the Snake River.

If you have to check, you shouldn’t be on the ramp. End of story.

Seriously? If a pilot is even questioning the need to use this device, he/she should probably not be flying.
