While some fuel prices rose slightly in January 2026, compared to December 2025, others actually fell or remained unchanged, according to the latest data from iFlightPlanner.

With December 2025 posting the lowest fuel prices of the year, the new year saw the average price of 100LL full service across the nation averaging $6.37, an increase of 3 cents a gallon (0.4%) compared to December. Meanwhile, the price of 100LL self service fell, averaging $5.43, a decrease of 5 cents (-0.9%).

Using self service fuel, when available, saves pilots approximately 15%, iFlightPlanner officials noted.

For mogas and UL94, pricing remained largely stable, the report shows. UL94 was flat across reported markets, while mogas showed a slight month-over-month decrease, with most locations reporting no change. UL94 self service averaged $6.88 and MOGAS averaged $4.69, with availability varying by region.

Nationally, Jet-A full service averaged $6.30 in January, representing an increase of 6 cents (1%) month over month. Excluding Alaska and Hawaii, Lower-48 Jet-A full service averaged $6.17, up 7 cents a gallon (1.1%) compared to December.

Regional Highlights for 100LL

  • The Lowest Costs: The Great Lakes region offered the lowest price for 100LL full service at $6.07 a gallon, while the Southwest was the lowest for self serve at $4.99 a gallon.
  • The Remote Premium: Alaska remains the most expensive market for 100LL, with the full service price at $10.28, a 10 cent increase from December.
  • A Twist: However the average price of 100LL self serve in Alaska fell 11 cents a gallon to $8.70 in January.

iFlightPlanner’s monthly report, which debuted in late 2025, is based on data collected from 3,349 FBOs and fuel service providers across the United States. The average age of all reported prices is 10.8 days, company officials note.
