Zenith Workshop Returns to Texas

By General Aviation News Staff · February 10, 2026 · Leave a Comment

Zenith Aircraft Company is bringing its kit aircraft building workshop once again to southwestern Texas.

The two-day workshop will take place March 6-7, 2026, at Boerne Stage Airfield (5C1), just north of San Antonio, Texas.

The workshop begins Friday morning, March 6, inside a private hangar and concludes the following day. On Saturday morning, March 7, Zenith will also host an informal regional fly-in gathering for Zenith aircraft owners, pilots, builders, and aviation enthusiasts.

“We have an active and growing community of Zenith builders and pilots throughout Texas,” said Sebastien Heintz, president of Zenith Aircraft Company. “We’re excited to reconnect with them and see many flying and in-progress Zenith projects.”

Representatives from Viking Aircraft Engines plan to participate, sharing information on their engine installations in Zenith kit airplanes. Factory demonstrator aircraft will also be available for demo flights.

During the workshop, each participant builds and assembles their own Zenith aircraft rudder tail section from a standard kit, completing the assembly over the two-day session.

While building the rudder, participants learn how to read drawings, follow assembly manuals, and perform common aircraft-building tasks, such as drilling and blind riveting, guided by Zenith factory staff. The completed rudder is fully assembled and ready for installation on a Zenith kit airplane.

“The rest of the aircraft kit is built the same way, using the same tools and techniques,” said Heintz. “But the workshop offers much more than just a finished rudder. Participants leave with the confidence, knowledge, and skills needed to build their own airplane. Many also discover that aircraft building can be an enjoyable, family-friendly experience.”

Workshop fees are $375 (or $425 for the CH 750 Super Duty model) and include the complete rudder kit. Additional helpers are encouraged to attend. Space is limited, and advance registration is required.

Zenith also hosts monthly workshops at its factory in Mexico, Missouri.
