Take a trip back in time at the Antique Airplane Association/Air Power Museum invitational Homecoming Fly-In, scheduled for Sept. 2-6, 2026, at Antique Airfield (IA27) in Blakesburg, Iowa.
This year’s event will honor A&P mechanics as part of Charles Taylor Days, “because without mechanics there would be no fly-ins,” organizers noted.
Held annually the weekend before Labor Day, the fly-in attracts vintage aircraft from around the country, including Ryans, WACOs, and Travel Airs.
Known by many in the general aviation community as simply Blakesburg, the annual fly-in offers just about everything antique airplane aficionados could want, according to officials.
“What you won’t find is TSA, a control tower, scheduled air shows, or night operations, because after sunset, when the 1930s airway beacon lights up, it’s time to sit with friends — and a beverage of your choice — to gaze into the night sky at millions of stars,” they added.
While this is a closed, private event open only to AAA members and their guests, pilots can join online, as well as preregister for the fly-in. Preregistration for anyone planning to attend this year’s fly-in is highly recommended, organizers added.

Wonderful event. Such a welcome respite from the hustle, bustle, and non-stop commotion of so many other fly-in events.
