Cirrus SR-series G3 Owners Gain Integrated Fuel Monitoring via Garmin Perspective+ Upgrade

By General Aviation News Staff · April 4, 2026 · Leave a Comment

Legacy Cirrus SR-series G3 owners can now bridge the gap between vintage analog systems and modern cockpit integration as CiES Inc. announced that its digital fuel quantity systems are now compatible with the Garmin Perspective+ upgrade for G3 airframes.

For years, the G3 relied on traditional analog senders that functioned independently of the main avionics suite, offering only a basic low-fuel warning. This “standalone” setup meant fuel states weren’t actively monitored by the aircraft’s computer, according to company officials.

By retrofitting with CiES digital senders during a Perspective+ upgrade, pilots transition to an integrated fuel-state architecture.

Improvements include:

  • Digital Communication: Fuel levels are communicated digitally to the Garmin Crew Alerting System (CAS).
  • Fail-Evident Design: The system is engineered to detect and alert pilots of internal sensor issues, rather than simply providing a frozen or inaccurate reading.
  • Solid-State Sensing: By eliminating mechanical wear interfaces found in older float-style senders, the system provides more stable and repeatable data.

While the latest G6 and G7 models come standard with advanced features like imbalance monitoring and automated tank-change messaging, this upgrade provides G3 operators with the same fundamental digital backbone.

“This is not just a sender replacement,” said Scott Philiben, President of CiES. “It is an architectural move from standalone indication to integrated fuel awareness.”
