A Cleaner, Faster Way to Time Piston Engines

By General Aviation News Staff · April 29, 2026 · Leave a Comment

Now available is Aerosync Timer, a specialized tool designed to provide aircraft mechanics and owners with a more accurate, mess-free solution for timing magnetos on piston-powered aircraft.

The Aerosync Timer addresses a long-standing frustration in the hangar: The need for tape or adhesives to secure timing tools to the propeller. Traditional methods often leave behind a sticky residue that requires extra cleaning and can potentially damage finishes. The Aerosync Timer solves this with a custom-engineered, 3D-printed case that slides onto the propeller blade and is secured by a Velcro strap. Once the job is finished, the unit is removed in seconds, leaving the aircraft in pristine condition.

“We wanted to simplify the timing process while increasing the reliability of the results,” said David Lowry. “By combining a high-quality digital inclinometer with a custom-fit housing, we’ve created a tool that stays exactly where you put it without the need for tape.”

Designed by Lowry and his son, Jason, the Aerosync Timer utilizes a digital angle finder housed in the proprietary case.

The Aerosync Timer is priced at $159 and is available on eBay.
