As part of the FAA’s celebration of America’s 250th birthday, the agency recently posted a video on YouTube looking at where air shows began. The National Air & Space Museum’s Aviation Historian Dorothy Cochrane walks us through the Thomas W. Haas “We All Fly” gallery to discuss the moment when general aviation truly took off.
“Learn how early aviators used stunts, rolls, and swooping into farmers’ fields to capture the public’s imagination,” FAA officials said. “From the first exhibition flights to the daring barnstormers of the 1920s, discover the roots of the modern air show.”
“Everybody loves an air show,” Cochrane says when wrapping up the video.

Stay up in the air!!!
