Air Tractor 802A Floats Earn Brazil Certification

By General Aviation News Staff · June 3, 2026 · Leave a Comment

An Air Tractor AT-802A firefighting aircraft equipped with Momentum Aeronautics Heatwave amphibious scooping floats.

Momentum Aeronautics has received certification from Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) for Heatwave, its amphibious scooping float platform engineered for the Air Tractor AT-802A aircraft.

The ANAC approval follows prior FAA STC approval and EASA STC validation, opening up immediate market access for aerial firefighting operators throughout South America, according to company officials.

Company officials note the platform is designed specifically for rapid initial attack operations. The system features a single-scoop design that permits safe operations even if one of the two scoops fails to deploy. Additional design attributes include structural reinforcement on the forward section to absorb wave impacts, optimized float positioning for water stability, and a fully redesigned nose landing gear system intended to smooth ground and water touchdowns, company officials added.

“This certification in Brazil is another step toward getting Heatwave into the hands of operators,” said Dan Garrett, President and Founder of Momentum Aeronautics. “We’ve put a lot into building a platform that performs where it matters and we’re ready to see it go to work.”

Production capacity is limited and is sold out through 2026, he added.

Momentum Aeronautics is managing the regional market demand via its Brazilian dealer, Frost Flying.
