Hound Avionics, a start-up founded by pilots and engineers, has introduced the SkyHound, a portable, all-in-one ADS-B In traffic and weather display.
Scheduled to begin shipping in July 2026, the SkyHound will make its public debut during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in July.
The inspiration behind SkyHound stems from a collective frustration with traditional portable ADS-B receivers, which typically require a separate tablet, wireless connections, and app subscriptions just to view usable data, according to company officials.
SkyHound delivers a “true plug-and-play safety device that requires no subscription, tablet, or wireless connection to function,” company officials said.
Operating on a simple “power on, see traffic, fly” workflow, the device functions as a fully independent system, officials explain. It is powered via USB-C and utilizes a compact case design optimized to sit securely on the glareshield of most general aviation aircraft without obstructing the outside view, they add.

SkyHound achieves its standalone capability by integrating a dual-frequency receiver, internal GPS, and a pressure sensor directly with a pilot-facing 4.3-inch QLED touchscreen, company officials explain. The display delivers real-time traffic tracking, NEXRAD imagery, audio alerts, and decoded in-flight METARs straight to the screen, while still retaining full optional compatibility to sync with ForeFlight or Garmin Pilot if a secondary screen is desired, they add.
SkyHound is currently available for an introductory launch price of $849 with free shipping. The company also promises free, continuous lifetime software updates via Wi-Fi.
