A pilot has donated his Cessna 310 to Westfield Technical Academy in Westfield, Massachusetts.

Benjamin “Ben” Surner donated an airworthy Cessna 310 to the academy’s Aviation Maintenance Technology program.

With the new aircraft, students will receive hands-on training in aircraft maintenance, inspection procedures, engine systems, avionics, and the operational components found in a functioning multi-engine aircraft.

“Opportunities like this are transformational for our students,” said Stefan Czaporowski, Superintendent of Schools.

“The donation of this aircraft provides our Aviation Maintenance Technology students with access to real-world learning experiences that mirror the equipment and systems they will encounter in the aviation industry,” said Galen Wilson, Aviation Department Chair.

Westfield Technical Academy’s Aviation Maintenance Technology program is recognized as one of the top high school aviation training programs in the country. It is authorized to offer students the opportunity to earn both Airframe and Powerplant certifications.
