CubCrafters has introduced the Carbon Cub ULT, a turboprop backcountry aircraft built to comply with upcoming FAA MOSAIC regulations.
The aircraft is powered by the TurboTech TP-R90 regenerative turbine engine, featuring an integrated Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) system. According to company officials, the powerplant delivers turbine reliability while achieving fuel economy comparable to gasoline-powered versions. The cockpit includes Garmin avionics, a dedicated engine display, single-lever power management, and push-button starting to minimize pilot workload.

“The result is an aircraft that combines the excitement and refinement of turbine power with the simplicity and accessibility that have always defined the Carbon Cub,” said Patrick Horgan, President and CEO of CubCrafters.
“We are extremely proud to be working with CubCrafters as our launch partner in the United States,” said Damien Fauvet, CEO of TurboTech, which is based in France. “CubCrafters has an exceptional reputation for innovation and engineering excellence in backcountry aviation, and the Carbon Cub ULT is an ideal platform to demonstrate the capabilities of the TP-R90 engine. Together, we believe we are introducing a new generation of efficient, practical, turbine-powered recreational aircraft.”

According to company officials, the Carbon Cub ULT is the first U.S.-manufactured turboprop aircraft eligible to be flown by Sport Pilots under the FAA’s MOSAIC framework. CubCrafters is currently accepting customer deposits, with initial deliveries scheduled for 2027. The aircraft will be exhibited at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026.
