Zenith Aircraft Company is taking its hands-on workshop classes on the road again, returning to central Michigan, landing at Livingston County Airport (KOZW) in Howell, about 55 miles west of Detroit, on Oct. 9-10, 2026.
Zenith’s workshop classes are aimed primarily at first-time kit airplane builders who are considering building their own aircraft and are unsure if they have the required skills, workspace, and tools. During the workshop, each participant builds and assembles their own rudder tail section from a standard Zenith kit.

The event is being organized by local Zenith builder and pilot Steve Aupperle, who flies a Zenith STOL CH 750, and EAA Chapter 1056.

The event is being supported in part by Martina and Oliver Reik, Zenith CH 750 Cruzer pilots, who own Midwest Flying Machines, a builder assistance center located west of Detroit.

Workshop fees are $375 (or $425 for the CH 750 Super Duty/Super Cruzer models) and include the complete rudder kit for a Zenith aircraft. Additional participants/helpers are encouraged to attend.
Space is limited and prior registration is required for the rudder workshop. Zenith Aircraft Company also hosts its workshop classes monthly at its factory in central Missouri.
Fly-In
Zenith will also host an informal regional fly-in gathering for Zenith aircraft owners, flyers, and enthusiasts on Oct. 10.
“We have a great community of Zenith aircraft builders and pilots in Michigan and surrounding states,” said Sebastien Heintz, Zenith Aircraft’s president. “We look forward to meeting with them and seeing many of their flying Zenith projects.”
All Zeniths are invited to fly in for the activities, and enthusiasts and current builders are invited to drive in to attend. Camper parking at the event is permissible.

Zenith staff will be driving their Zenith Sprinter van to Michigan for the workshop and will be available to deliver kits and parts along the way, Heintz added.
