Samson Sky, maker of the Switchblade Flying Car, has secured an $80 million investment from the Matin Group.
The funds will be used to establish Samson Sky’s first 180,000-square-foot Switchblade production facility, which will be located in the U.S., according to Sam Bousfield, CEO and Founder of Samson Sky and designer of the Switchblade.
“The Samson Sky R&D Facility will remain in Prineville, Oregon, and the U.S. production facility location has been narrowed down to three potential locations in different parts of the country, with some negotiations underway,” he added.
Matin Group is a privately held, family‑led investment and strategic holding company headquartered in Dubai. Through its Finance and Investment division, the group focuses on structured project financing, investment structuring, and selective equity participation.
The investment agreement includes setting up a joint venture between Samson Sky and the Matin Group, designed to accelerate production of the flying car. Company officials note they still have to raise another $20 million to reach full production funding.

The Switchblade Flying Sports Car, which made its first flight in November 2023, is a street-legal, hybrid electric vehicle that seats two, side-by-side, and flies up to 500 miles on a single tank of premium auto gas.
Owners will need a private pilot certificate to fly the Switchblade, which is an experimental category aircraft. As with all experimental aircraft, the FAA mandates that the owner must build 51% of the vehicle. All Switchblade owners will spend one week at the Samson Builder Assist Center, building 51% of their Switchblade. Following this, Samson employees will complete the vehicle.
Samson Sky officials report the company has nearly 2,700 reservations from more than 50 countries, as well as every U.S. state, representing more than $500 million in future revenue. Estimated pricing is $200,000 USD.
