Garmin Expands Guided Visual Approaches Into Mexico

By General Aviation News Staff · October 28, 2026 · Leave a Comment

Garmin has introduced 12 new Guided Visual Approaches across eight airports, expanding the flight navigation capability beyond the United States and into Mexico.

Designed in collaboration with Hughes Aerospace, the latest release adds visual procedures for airports including Albuquerque International Sunport (KABQ) in New Mexico, Yampa Valley Airport (KHDN) in Hayden, Colorado, and Cabo San Lucas International Airport (MMSL) in Mexico.

The expansion brings the company’s navigation database to 77 visual approaches across 56 airport environments, according to Garmin officials.

The guided procedures are engineered to help pilots fly stabilized visual descents, particularly when operating faster aircraft, maneuvering through mountainous terrain and obstacle corridors, or tracking runways against complex urban light patterns at night.

The updated procedures are available for download through flyGarmin.com.
