Virga Unveils Redesigned Cockpit Weather And PIREP Application

By General Aviation News Staff · October 28, 2026 · Leave a Comment

Virga has launched a redesign of its pilot reporting mobile application, introducing an updated user interface and simplified navigation to streamline in-flight weather reporting.

According to company officials, the overhauled layout is tailored specifically for high-workload cockpit operations. The interface allows aviators to submit pilot reports (PIREPs), including photo attachments, in approximately five taps.

Key updates to the platform include:

  • Enhanced Navigation: Simplified mapping, filtering, and alert systems designed for quick access during preflight planning or active flight.
  • Report Grouping: Clearer visual organization displaying clustered PIREPs across specific geographic areas.
  • Network Integration: Improved synchronization with AviationWeather.gov, ensuring field reports distribute widely across public weather networks.
  • Core Utilities: Continued support for offline report queuing and customized push notifications.

Developers noted they are also preparing future updates that will incorporate weather radar overlays, aviation aeronautical charts, and interactive PIREP heat maps.
